Elgin has a genuine historic core and a fast-growing edge, and the HVAC picture splits along exactly that line. Downtown and the older streets around it are full of homes built long before central air was standard — ductwork added decades later, squeezed into tight attics, often with no return in the back bedrooms. Newer subdivisions on the outskirts have modern equipment and unbalanced duct systems.
Older homes here also tend toward electric resistance heat, which works but costs more to run than most homeowners realize until they see a January bill. And the mature tree cover that makes the older neighborhoods pleasant also means condensers loaded with debris by mid-summer.
Elgin is far enough out that plenty of contractors price the drive into the job. We route Bastrop County deliberately so that is not your problem. Every visit includes a full system evaluation — static pressure, airflow, refrigerant charge, duct and electrical condition — with photos and video of what we found, and three options rather than one quote.
