Lockhart has a historic downtown and housing stock to match, and older homes bring specific HVAC problems. Central air arrived here long after the houses did, which means ductwork was retrofitted into tight attics and crawl spaces, often with no return air in the back bedrooms and runs that were never sized properly for the rooms they serve.
That shows up as rooms that never cool, systems that short-cycle because the duct cannot move the air the equipment produces, and electrical panels that limit what can actually be installed. Electric resistance heat is common in this area and quietly expensive through a cold January. Newer builds around the edges of town have the opposite problem: fine equipment, unbalanced ducts.
Lockhart is far enough south that some contractors price the drive into the work. We route Caldwell County deliberately instead. Every visit includes a full system evaluation with photos and video of what is actually in your attic, and three options with real numbers rather than a single quote.
